Dutch cyclist Pauliena Rooijakkers, currently with Canyon SRAM, is set to sport the colours of the Belgian team, Fenix-Deceuninck, from 2024. The 30-year-old has signed a two-year contract with the squad.

Speaking about her decision, Rooijakkers stated, “From the very first meeting with the team management, I had a very good feeling.” She went on to praise Fenix-Deceuninck for the significant strides they’ve made over recent years and acknowledged the potential for further growth. “I am eager to be a part of this journey,” she added. With her vast experience, Rooijakkers is particularly looking forward to supporting the team on hilly courses and during stage races. She hopes to assist current leading riders like Yara Kastelijn and also aims to achieve personal results. “It’s an exciting challenge, and I can’t wait to get started,” she commented.

Rooijakkers boasts an impressive track record. In the past, she rode for teams like Boels-Dolmans, Parkhotel Valkenburg, and CCC-Liv. Since 2022, she has been part of Canyon SRAM. While with this team, she secured a victory at the Durango-Durango Emakumeen Saria (1.1) last year. That same season, she clinched second place in the Tour of the Basque Country and third in the Tour of Switzerland. This year, she added two wins from the UCI Gravel World Series to her accolades.

In summary, Fenix-Deceuninck’s acquisition of Rooijakkers signals an exciting time ahead, as they combine their growing ambition with her seasoned experience in the 2024 season.
