Pernille Mathiesen (Retired)
Pernille Mathiesen is a retired Danish professional cyclist who specialised in time-trialling. A double European under-23 champion and junior World Championship medallist, she competed for Team Sunweb, Jumbo-Visma and Cofidis during a career that established her among Denmark’s strongest young riders against the clock.

Career overview
Mathiesen emerged as an outstanding time-trial prospect with silver at the 2014 Junior World Championships before winning a stage of Gracia-Orlová in 2016. Her breakthrough came at the 2017 European Championships in Herning, where she won both the under-23 road race and individual time-trial titles. After joining Team Sunweb, Mathiesen finished fifth in the 2018 European elite time-trial and 12th at the World Championships, while also earning bronze with Sunweb in the World Championship team time-trial. She later raced for Team Jumbo-Visma Women before joining Cofidis for 2022. Mathiesen ended her professional career midway through that season at the age of 24, choosing to prioritise her health and wellbeing.
