Pfeiffer Georgi wins La Choralis Fourmies Féminine

Pfeiffer Georgi raced to victory at La Choralis Fourmies Féminine in France from a small group after a late attack.

Having made her way into the day’s early break, Georgi was in control at the front of the race with her team mates patrolling the peloton behind. Once this was brought back, the team set her up again to attack on the final lap from which point she proved strongest from a small group to take the victory from a small group, the first UCI pro victory of her career.

After the finish, Georgi said: “I’m really happy as this is my first pro win and the team had confidence in me and set me up perfectly to attack on the last lap. I was joined in the last couple of kilometres and the group behind were really close to catching us but I tried to play it cool and stay behind until I opened my sprint with 150m to go. It was also special being Julia’s last race so feels really nice to finish it together in this way!”

Team DSM coach Albert Timmer added: “All the credit to the girls today. Captains Julia and Coryn made managed the plan today and every one executed it really well. It’s nice for Pfeiffer who wins her first UCI race at this level. She can be proud of the way she raced with real confidence and guts today and can be really happy with the result.”
