Puck Pieterse sets sights on Liévin Worlds as cyclocross schedule is revealed

Puck Pieterse jumps the barriers in Tabor

Puck Pieterse’s 2024/25 cyclocross campaign is set, with the Dutch rider planning a 12-race schedule that will culminate at the World Championships in Liévin, France, on 1st February. Fenix-Deceuninck shared the news on social media, declaring, “The countdown begins! Our multi-talent Puck Pieterse is ready to conquer the 2024-2025 cyclocross season!”

Her season opener is scheduled for 15th December at the World Cup in Namur, a late start compared to her October debut last year in Waterloo. This follows an intense summer where Pieterse shone across disciplines, clinching her first elite mountain biking rainbow jersey in September and making a splash on the road with a stage win at the Tour de France Femmes.

Reflecting on the heavy demands of her 2024 season, Pieterse will look to channel her form into cyclocross, where she has proven herself as one of the sport’s rising stars. Last season, she claimed victories at Zonhoven, Hulst, and Gavere in the World Cup, as well as at Diegem in the Superprestige series. Her schedule this winter includes all major series, including two X20 Trofee races and the Dutch National Championships on 12th January.

Pieterse’s success in 2024 extended well beyond the cyclocross course. She rode her first full road season, delivering a series of impressive results, including top-10 finishes at the Tour of Flanders, Gent-Wevelgem, and Omloop Het Nieuwsblad. At the Tour de France Femmes, she narrowly edged Demi Vollering in Liège to take a maiden stage win and secured the white jersey as the best young rider. Her strong form carried over to the World Championships road race, where she finished 13th in her elite debut.

Despite her late start, Pieterse remains a key contender in this year’s cyclocross World Cup. Her debut in Namur marks the first of a series of high-profile appearances, including stops in Hulst, Zonhoven, Gavere, and a possible return to Benidorm on 19th January. She’ll also tackle the Hoogerheide round on 26th January, where she finished second at last year’s World Championships.

Fenix-Deceuninck were clear about Pieterse’s ambitions, describing her ultimate goal as another elite rainbow jersey to add to her growing collection. She finished third at last year’s Worlds in Tabor and second the year before in Hoogerheide, with hopes of taking the top step in Liévin this time around.

The Dutch rider has established herself as one of the sport’s leading multi-discipline athletes, seamlessly transitioning between cyclocross, road, and mountain biking. With her strong performances in 2024 and a well-planned winter schedule, Pieterse looks ready to add more victories to her name before turning her attention to the 2025 season.
