This month we asked you on our social media channels if you had any questions for new recruit, Charlotte Kool. After a nice training ride around her local region, Charlotte sat down to answer our five favourite questions!
Q: What is your favourite race and why?
A: Itโs actually hard to pick one race because I like everything basically! But if I had to pick one, then I would go with Paris-Roubaix because it is something epic and different to all of the others. Itโs not like a normal bike race, itโs crazy and the finish on the velodrome is something really special.
Q: What are your expectations for the 2022 season?
A: I want to have a lot of fun with the girls, which we already have at our team camps so far, to win races together as Team DSM, to give it my all and become a stronger rider. Yeah, just to enjoy everything with the team and of course in the end if we can win races together.
Q: What race (not your favourite) are you most looking forward to?
A: Like I said for my favourite race, itโs tough. I think the classics are pretty special because we have a strong group in the team and they are always really exciting races. I canโt think of one race but just everything as a block โ I canโt wait to start with the team!
Q: How many kilometres do you ride in a year and whatโs the most youโve done?
A: Ooh thatโs a hard question! Iโm actually not sure how many kilometres I did last year, but it was a lot. The most I have done in a race was Ronde van Drenthe last year with around 160 kilometres and even more if you include the neutral. As for a ride, I think it was around 185 kilometres but Iโm not too sure if Iโve done longer than that!
Q: Whatโs your favourite thing to do away from cycling?
A: This is an easy one for me, as I really like coffee! I recently bought a new espresso machine so I am trying everything out now and itโs more difficult than you think โ making a good espresso is tough. I also enjoy spending time with my friends and going hiking, but hiking is quite difficult to do during the season, so weโve done quite a bit of it in the off-season!
