Race Report: Jolien D’hoore sprinted to 3rd place

In this year’s edition of Oxyclean Classic Brugge-de Panne, Team SD Worx was present with 2 riders in the decisive group of 13 which was formed with 30 kilometres to go. Both Jolien D’hoore and Amy Pieters were part of the group that worked together pretty well to stay in front of the peloton.

With 12 kilometres the go, it was Grace Brown of Team BikeExchange who attacked and rode solo to the victory. A few seconds behind her the chasing group get up for a small bunch sprint in which D’hoore sprinted to a third place.

“I knew that Grace was trying to attack as she was the only rider in our group who don’t wanted to sprint with this group. So, it was pretty impressive that she was able to stay upfront. I started my sprint maybe a little bit too early. But it was a great fun as I love riding in the echelons! I’ll do some easy spinning tomorrow and Saturday and let’s try again in Gent this Sunday”, is the first reaction of D’hoore after the finish.

Sport Director Jack Seehafer concludes: ”We executed what we wanted to execute, but it in the end Grace was stronger. With 2 riders of the team in the decisive group we need to be satisfied with those results. We can work towards Gent-Wevelgem this weekend and will use the experiences of today.”
