Sarah Gigante has officially extended her contract with AG Insurance – Soudal, committing to the team for at least two more years. The Australian cyclist, who has been with the squad since 2022, expressed her excitement at the opportunity to continue her journey with the team.
“Extending my contract with AG Insurance – Soudal is truly an honour and a delight. Iโve never been as happy or successful as I have been with this team. The environment here is both familial and professional, and Iโm extremely grateful for the opportunities Iโve had and the friendships Iโve made,” Gigante said in an interview.
The 24-year-old has enjoyed a positive spell with AG Insurance – Soudal, where she has developed both as a rider and as a person. Reflecting on her time so far, she shared how much the team’s support has shaped her. “During my time with the team, Iโve learned some valuable lessons. One of the most important is to focus on the positives and play to the strengths of both your team and your own skillset,” she explained, recognising how this has helped her grow.
Looking ahead, Gigante is setting her sights on further personal development, rather than results-based targets. “I want to become stronger and more confident on the bike while maintaining a good balance and happiness off the bike. Although I havenโt set any specific outcome-based goals yet, as Iโm still waiting to know my exact racing programme, Iโm determined to make the most of the opportunities Iโm given and to help my teammates achieve their personal goals.”
She hinted at her hopes for the coming seasons, particularly aiming to defend her Tour Down Under title in January and play a key role in the teamโs grand tour ambitions. “I hope to have a chance to defend my Tour Down Under title in January, enjoy some hilly one-day races, and, most importantly, play a key role in the grand tours,” she added.
Gigante also praised the teamโs scientific approach to training and recovery, which she credits for her strong performances in stage races. “I was amazed by the nutrition protocols and the teamโs approach to fueling during my first races. The riders and staff are all very scientific in their approach, and I really feel the benefits of these changes. I enjoy feeling just as strong on the last day of a tour as I do on the first,” she noted.
The extension solidifies Giganteโs place in the AG Insurance – Soudal line-up for the next two seasons, allowing her to continue building on the progress sheโs made while forming lasting relationships with the team.
