Shirin van Anrooij, despite the setback of an early cyclocross season exit due to broken ribs, has reinforced her commitment to Lidl-Trek by signing an extension through 2026. The 21-year-old Dutch rider will continue to represent Lidl-Trek on the road and Baloise Trek Lions in cyclocross, bringing her optimism and growing talent to the team.

Since joining Lidl-Trek in 2021, Van Anrooij has consistently improved, clinching her first professional road win at Trofeo Alfredo Binda with a spirited solo attack. Her season was further highlighted by top-10 finishes in the classics, a second place at Vuelta a Burgos, and an overall win at Tour de l’Avenir, showcasing her potential as a GC contender.

Van Anrooij expressed her delight in continuing with Lidl-Trek, acknowledging the team’s unwavering support and the role it played in her development. “The decision to stay was super easy. I just needed to sign the contract,” she said. “The team has always believed in me, giving me time to develop as a rider. Winning Trofeo Binda was a result of this support.”

“One of the key reasons for staying with Lidl-Trek is the sense of family and support within the team. I’m as happy when my teammates win as when I win, and I know they’ll give their all for me too,” she added. With Lidl as the title sponsor, Van Anrooij is confident in the team’s growing professionalism and support in areas like nutrition and coaching.

Van Anrooij’s goals for the coming years are ambitious yet grounded. She aims to secure a win this year, enhance her GC riding skills, and dreams of a podium finish in one of the Grand Tours. The Classics remain a key focus for her, reflecting her love for these races.

Ina Teutenberg, Lidl-Trek DS, affirmed Van Anrooij’s extension as a straightforward decision. “Shirin is a smart young woman who’s eager to learn and determined to reach her high potential. She’s shown the qualities needed to excel in GC, and we’re excited to support her journey towards many future podiums,” Teutenberg remarked.
