Swiss Cyclists Sweep Podium in Ponente in Rosa Prologue

In the opening prologue of the Trofeo Ponente in Rosa, Swiss cyclists, under coach Edy Telser, replicated last year’s success by dominating the podium in the Ligurian stage race. Alessandra Keller emerged victorious in the Marina di Loano time trial, covering the 2600-meter course in 3 minutes and 43.56 seconds, with Linda Indergand and Linda Zanetti following closely behind.

Keller, speaking after her unexpected triumph, expressed her surprise at her ability to maintain speed and excel in an unfamiliar event. She highlighted the technical corners and constant accelerations, which favoured her mountain biking skills.

Regarding her focus on mountain biking, Keller confirmed that the Ponente in Rosa serves as preparation for the World Cup and, notably, the Olympics.

Italian rider Monica Trinca Colonel was the best-performing Italian in their home race, finishing thirteenth with a 4-second delay.

The first road stage, from Bordighera to Pietra Ligure covering 112 km, will commence tomorrow at 13:45.

The general classification is led by Alessandra Keller, with Linda Indergand and Linda Zanetti closely following suit. The jerseys are distributed accordingly, with Keller donning the pink jersey for the overall lead.
