Team dsm-firmenich PostNL has announced the signing of two young Colombian riders, marking a first in the team’s history. Juliana Londoño and Juan Martinez will join the team for 2025, expanding its international roster while staying true to its Dutch roots. The team has confirmed that Martinez will race with their men’s programme until 2027, while Londoño has signed through 2026. The team recently announced it would be known as Team Picnic PostNL from 2025.
Juliana Londoño steps up to the Women’s WorldTour
Hailing from Medellín, Londoño has quickly made a name for herself since taking up cycling in early 2022. Previously a competitive skater, she transitioned to cycling and immediately found success on the Colombian domestic circuit. Her final year as a junior saw her win the Pan-American time trial championship and take silver in the road race. She also shone on the world stage, winning the omnium at the track World Championships held in Colombia.
This year, Londoño gained valuable European racing experience with the UCI WCC Team, delivering consistent performances across various terrains. Notable results included third place on stage three of the Princess Anna Vasa Tour and a sixth-place finish at La Périgord Ladies behind the breakaway.
“I’m really excited to join Team dsm-firmenich PostNL next year,” said Londoño. “It will be a big step for me to race in the WorldTour, but I just want to learn as much as I can from the team and the staff, especially in my first year. The team is very professional and structured, which suits me well. I’m not sure yet what type of rider I am. I have a good sprint, but I want to become a complete rider, not focusing on one speciality. I think that approach aligns with how the team works, and I’m looking forward to it.”
Head coach Rudi Kemna praised Londoño’s talent and character, describing her as “super driven and intelligent.” He added: “Juliana has impressed us not only with her results but also her personality. Winning on both the road and track highlights her versatility, and we believe she has untapped potential. We want to give her room to grow and improve without pressure as she adjusts to the demands of WorldTour racing.”
Juan Martinez: climbing talent joins the men’s programme
Martinez, from Colombia’s Boyacá region, has shown his aptitude for climbing and an ability to perform on challenging terrain. Inspired by the success of riders from his region, he began making an impression in Colombia and Spain, winning an uphill time trial at the Bizkaiko Itzulia. After joining Q36.5 Continental Cycling Team in 2023, Martinez faced some challenges but progressed steadily, culminating in a standout 2024 season.
This year, he took sixth overall at the Giro Valle d’Aosta, claiming the mountains jersey along the way. His form continued with a victory at Bassano–Monte Grappa and a strong showing at the Tour de l’Avenir, where he supported his Colombian teammates.
“Team dsm-firmenich PostNL is one of the biggest teams in the world, and it will be special to turn professional with them,” Martinez shared. “They’ve developed many great riders, so I think it’s a good fit as I take the next step in my career. The support for riders is very professional, from nutrition to training and equipment. Right now, I see myself as a pure climber, but I want to improve in every area over the next few years. If I can help the team win or even take a victory myself, that would be the dream.”
Kemna echoed his excitement about Martinez, saying, “Juan has shown himself to be an exciting climbing talent. His win in the mountains jersey at the Giro Valle d’Aosta is a clear indicator of his ability. With his experience racing in Europe and his potential for further development, we believe he can progress significantly with us in the years to come.”
