Tokyo 2020: White, Williams qualify third in team pursuit

In the qualifying round of the women’s team pursuit at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, Rally Cycling’s Emma White and Lily Williams helped propel Team USA to third place alongside teammates Jennifer Valente and Chloe Dygert. Finishing in a time of 4:10.118, the squad eclipsed the previous world record set by Team Great Britain from the gold medal finals of the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.

Germany led the field home in a world-breaking time of 4:07.307, emerging as the team to beat for gold. Defending Olympic champions Great Britain qualified second with 4:09.022, setting up a second-round matchup with Team USA.
