UAE Team ADQ partners with Shimano in four-year deal

UAE Team ADQ has announced a major new partnership with Shimano, bringing cutting-edge technology to the team for the next four years. Both UAE Team ADQ and their menโ€™s counterpart, UAE Team Emirates, will now utilise Shimano’s DURA-ACE Di2 wireless groupset, which offers advanced shifting and braking technology designed for top-level performance.

Melissa Moncada, President of UAE Team ADQ, highlighted the timing of the agreement, given the current trajectory of womenโ€™s cycling. โ€œWomen’s cycling is experiencing rapid growth, and our team is committed to achieving ambitious goals,โ€ she said. โ€œWe strive to provide our riders with the most advanced technology, ensuring they have everything they need to perform at their best. Combining our experience on the field with Shimano’s renowned expertise in cycling innovation, we are poised to grow together and compete at the highest level with the finest equipment available.โ€

Shimanoโ€™s involvement is not limited to equipment alone. The partnership reflects a broader ambition to lead in cycling innovation. Yuzo Shimano, Executive Officer and Vice President of the Bike Planning Department at Shimano, described the collaboration as a step forward for both parties. โ€œOur four-year partnership with UAE Team ADQ represents a long-term commitment to technological innovation,โ€ he explained. โ€œWe are engineering a comprehensive performance solution that will drive cycling technology forward for the foreseeable future.โ€

This agreement also bolsters UAE Team ADQ’s prospects for the 2025 season, especially following the addition of Elisa Longo Borghini. Longo Borghini, who claimed victories at the Giro dโ€™Italia Women and Tour of Flanders this year, is expected to bring further success to the team. The technological support from Shimano is likely to play a key role in upcoming races, with the Di2 groupset already proving its worth during the teamโ€™s 80-plus wins across Grand Tours, Classics, and General Classification races in 2024.

As part of this collaboration, UAE Team ADQ riders will benefit from Shimanoโ€™s electronic gear shifting and advanced braking systems, features designed to deliver precision and reliability in the heat of competition. The partnership signals a step forward for the team as they continue to aim for the highest levels of performance.
