The UAE Tour is a unique race, known for its mix of sprint stages and the daunting ascent up Jebel Hafeet. Participants often have distinct favourites, and for many, the stage featuring Jebel Hafeet holds their attention as the only summit finish in the race.

In a team press release, “I’m most excited about the stage with the final climb up Jebel Hafeet,” žigart remarked. This year’s edition presents a lengthy challenge, demanding focus and energy conservation throughout. As the rider noted, “It’s going to be tough, but I’m really looking forward to it.”

This year, the team is arriving with a robust lineup, particularly for the sprint stages. A couple of strong riders are set to tackle the flats and echelons, while Ashleigh and another teammate will focus on the climb. With this being the first race alongside new teammates, the primary aim is to develop team dynamics. “Results-wise, I’d love to aim for a top-10 finish on the third stage with Jebel Hafeet or maybe help launch Ashleigh to a great result,” the rider explained. Additionally, improving performance in crosswinds is another personal goal for the race.

The route this year is reminiscent of previous editions but offers a balanced start, without overly hectic opening stages. This allows riders to ease into the rhythm of competition. However, the stages are far from easy. Stage two, in particular, is expected to be intense, with the wind adding an element of stress and adrenaline. “The climb at Jebel Hafeet is a great way to start the season, and it’s like a little test ahead of my bigger goals later in the year,” the rider added, recognising the climb’s role in preparing for future challenges.
