Valentine Fortin triumphs in the 2nd A Travers les Hauts de France

This Saturday marked a highlight for women’s cycling in the north of France with the second running of A Travers les Hauts de France. The competitors faced a 129km route from Brebières to Quéant in the Pas-de-Calais region.

As expected, the race was decided in a gripping final sprint. Several riders tried to break away early, but a determined peloton reeled them in. The longest-lasting break came from Febe Jooris and Sara van de Vel who held off the peloton for well over 50km today. In the closing stages, the Cofidis team took control, setting a blistering pace. Spearheading their effort was French champion Victoire Berteau, who delivered a powerful performance, giving her teammates the edge as they approached the final kilometre.

Working seamlessly together, the Cofidis riders held their lead. Valentine Fortin, supported by her two remaining teammates, finished off the team’s impressive effort, crossing the line with her arms raised in victory. She edged out Christine Majerus, who usually rides for SD-Worx but was representing the Luxembourg team and Marthe Truyen of Fenix-Deceuninck DT.

After securing two victories at the Bretagne Ladies Tour in May, the 24-year-old Fortin bagged her third road win of the season.
