Vittoria eighth in stage 5 of the Tour de France

Vittoria took eighth place in the fifth stage of the Tour de France Women with Zwift

For this 5th stage of the Tour de France Women, the longest on the program of these 8 days of racing, the peloton covered 175.6 kilometres between Bar-le-Duc and Saint-Dié-des-Vosges. The peloton thus crossed the departments of Meuse, Meurthe-et-Moselle and Vosges at a very steady pace and in pursuit of a breakaway of four units.

At 45 kilometres from the finish, a massive fall put a stop to the progress of the peloton on the leading group. With the exception of Grace, who fell harmlessly on the right side of the road, the girls avoided this fall thanks to good positioning in the front positions of the peloton.

After a lot of work done to protect and place Cecilie Uttrup Ludwig, Vittoria Guazzini grabbed a top 10 (8th) after a massive sprint won by Lorena Wiebes (DSM). Cecilie crossed the finish line in 17th position.

Vittoria Guazzini on today’s stage: “Today was a very long day, and I think everyone was a bit tired from the other stages, so the peloton wasn’t very fast. Especially at the start, so We let a breakaway go. At the end, it was very nervous. There was a big crash. Unfortunately, Grace was involved. But then we tried to keep Cecilie out of trouble, and I think that we did it very well. Then I tried to sprint but I was already flat out for 15 km at the front of the peloton. I’m happy with my top 10, and I can’t wait for tomorrow .”
