We had to say goodbye to 2 riders after the second stage

Unfortunately, we had to say goodbye to 2 riders after the second stage of the Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift, namely Gaia Masetti and Ally Wollaston.

At the start of the stage, the riders from AG Insurance – NXTG were attentive, but were absent in one of the first big breakaway groups. The peloton, who had fallen asleep, woke up resulting in several major falls. In a chaotic and nervous end of the second stage, Masetti crashed hard and unfortunately was unable to continue her race. Wollaston managed to come back after two crashes, a great achievement. After the finish, she was taken to the hospital for a check-up.

Both Gaia and Ally crashed today and went to the hospital for check-ups. Gaia has several stitches, but luckily no broken bones. Ally unfortunately has a fracture in her wrist,” said the team’s medical staff, who were present during the medical checks of both riders.

It wasn’t a good day for our team. Until 25 kilometers before the end we were in good shape, and everyone had a great feeling. We went into the final with confidence. It was a hectic day, I think for the whole peloton.” says Jolien D’Hoore after the returns back in the hotel. She continues: “On to the next stages. Tomorrow is another difficult stage to Epernay, with a lot of height difference. Hopefully we will be spared bad luck and we can show something beautiful.
