Wiebes, Faulkner and Le Court Pienaar among headline names for 2025 Lloyds Tour of Britain Women

Lorena Wiebes

The 2025 edition of the Lloyds Tour of Britain Women is shaping up to be one of the most competitive in recent memory, with European champion Lorena Wiebes, Olympic double gold medallist Kristen Faulkner, and Liรจge-Bastogne-Liรจge winner Kim Le Court confirmed among the first wave of star riders set to race from 5th to 8th June.

Wiebes returns to Britain in the European championโ€™s jersey and as one of the pre-race favourites. Currently ranked third in the world, the Dutch sprinter has built a formidable record on British roads, with a dozen UCI victories on UK soil since 2019, including stage 3 of last yearโ€™s Tour of Britain Women.

Also confirmed is Ruby Roseman-Gannon, who took a stage win in the 2024 edition and previously wore the Australian national champion’s jersey. Alongside her, Le Court Pienaar arrives off the back of a standout spring campaign. The Mauritian climber took victory at Liรจge-Bastogne-Liรจge and recorded top-six finishes at Paris-Roubaix, the Ronde van Vlaanderen, and La Flรจche Wallonne.

The Scottish stages of this yearโ€™s race will carry particular meaning for Kim Le Court. Though born in Mauritius, her mother is Scottish, making the final two stages in Kelso and Glasgow something of a homecoming.

Also returning to familiar territory is Cecilie Uttrup Ludwig. The Danish rider claimed bronze in the road race at the 2023 Glasgow World Championships and won the mountains jersey at the Womenโ€™s Tour of Scotland in 2019. Sheโ€™ll line up for Canyon SRAM zondacrypto, one of the top WorldTour outfits on the start list.

Completing the initial lineup of confirmed riders is Kristen Faulkner, who will wear the stars and stripes of the American national champion. Faulkner was one of the breakout stars of the 2024 Olympics, taking solo gold in the road race before adding a second title in the team pursuit on the track.

โ€œAfter a slow start to my season and coming back from an injury this winter, I’m really excited to have a big goal,โ€ said Faulkner. โ€œI’m hoping to peak for the Tour of Britain so that’ll be a really exciting goal for me to look forward to and to have as a key race in my season.โ€

The race gets underway on 5th June with a stage from Dalby Forest to Redcar across the challenging roads of the North York Moors. Stage two finishes with an uphill run into Saltburn-by-the-Sea, before the race moves to Scotland for the closing weekend. Kelso hosts stage three on 7th June, with the finale taking place in Glasgow on 8th June.

Further rider and team announcements are expected in the coming days, but with major names already committed, the 2025 Lloyds Tour of Britain Women looks poised to deliver a high-calibre four-day contest across northern England and southern Scotland.
