Stage 4 of the Women’s Tour saw the peloton spend almost the entire day in Wales. Starting in Wrexham, where it was raining, the peloton drifted south to Welshpool, where it was also raining. In the meantime, the peloton had an attacking day with Teuntje Beekhuis kicking things off early doors before it was shut down. A successful break of 10 riders did get away on Hirnant Bank full of elite names. The remnants of that break decided the victory. Pfeiffer Georgi put in a huge stint to try and close the gap so leader Lorena Wiebes could sprint for another victory but it was not to be.
Grace Brown took advantage of a rise with 5km to go to sprint the break and dragged Niewiadoma and Longo Borghini with her. It was Longo Borghini who kicked off the sprint but Grace Brown was soon onto her wheel and came round with ease to win her first race in 2022. Niewiadoma also came round to finish 2nd. The peloton crossed the line 1 minute and 16 seconds behind. Grace Brown took the overall lead, just 4 seconds ahead of Niewiadoma.
