13th on Mont Ventoux!

This Tuesday, June 14th began with a novelty. Our 5 Rochelaises, Frances, Séverine, Marine, Marion and Natalie, had an appointment with the first edition of the MONT VENTOUX DÉNIVELÉ CHALLENGES. On the programme, 100km and 2800m of vertical ascent in terrible heat. Three passes as a starter, main course and dessert: the Col de la Madeleine, the Col de la Gabelle and the Rocher du Cire. The runners then took the direction of Sault to begin the ascent of the Géant de Provence, located at an altitude of 1912 m. A 25.7 km climb, which was started by a leading group of 20 runners, where we could find Marine Allione and Natalie Grinczer. Under the impetus of the work of the FDJ NOUVELLE AQUITAINE FUTOROSCOPE team, the breakaway was caught 10km from the finish. A few kilometres further on when Frances Janse van Rensberg and Séverine Eraud had just fallen behind the peloton, Martia Cavalli (FDJ NOUVELLE AQUITAINE FUTOROSCOPE) decided to attack at the head of the race.

She could not be matched and therefore became the first winner of the MONT VENTOUX DÉNIVELÉ CHALLENGES. Frances achieves the best performance of the team, and what a performance! She ranks 13th at the top of Ventoux, 3’57” behind Martia Cavalli. Congratulations also to Séverine Eraud who also joins the Top 20, with her 17th place.
