Clara Copponi took 5th place at Omloop Het Nieuwsblad.
After a long battle in the final, the Van Vleuten/Vollering duo will not be seen again. Grace Brown will have responded, but her group is caught up by the main peloton, of which Clara is a part and finishes in 3rd place in the sprint.
Clara Copponi looks back on her race: “I’m super happy with my feelings, I didn’t know how I was going to get out of my training course at altitude. I was designated as a teammate today and I didn’t expect to have to do the sprint and above all, I didn’t expect to still be there after the Wall! When the group returned, we agreed with Vittoria for the sprint, starting the season with a top 5 gives you confidence. The preparation was good, that’s all there is to it!”.
