Jacopo Mosca signs two-year extension to remain Lidl-Trek’s road captain until 2027

Jacopo Mosca will continue to be a familiar figure in Lidl-Trek colours after signing a two-year contract extension that will keep him with the team until the end of 2027. The experienced Italian road captain has been a key figure in the squad for several seasons, valued for his leadership, dependability, and tireless work in support of his teammates.

Mosca’s first spell with the team came in 2016 as a stagiaire, before returning full-time in late 2019. He made an immediate impact on his second arrival, starting the Vuelta a España and quickly establishing himself as one of the peloton’s most dependable domestiques.

Since then, he has completed five editions of the Giro d’Italia and two Vueltas a España, often spending long hours at the front of the bunch to protect leaders or set up sprint opportunities.

Reflecting on his recent racing, Mosca highlighted this year’s Giro d’Italia as a personal highlight. “It was something special not only for the team but also for me. To be part of this group after two years of not doing the Giro, being back was really nice. To achieve what we did was impressive. In the team I feel part of the family. I never considered anything else than continuing to race with the team. It will be special to continue for another two years, and we never know what might come after.”

Mosca is motivated to keep improving and supporting both established leaders and developing riders. “I really want to keep racing. In this team I think everyone knows what I can do, what my role is, and how much I love to work for the others – for the big leaders, of course, but also to help some young guys to develop their personal ambitions. I want to keep working and always aim to be better. To stay in this sport you need to show each year that you are stronger and stronger.”

Lidl-Trek General Manager Luca Guercilena praised Mosca’s qualities, both on and off the bike. “Whatever the scenario, Jacopo is a reliable and loyal rider that we can trust to give his 100% to the team. Also, he’s a smart rider and uses his experience of reading races to contribute to the discussion in team meetings. For us to succeed, it’s essential to have riders like Jacopo who are willing to ride selflessly. He may not be the one crossing the line first, but his work is instrumental to our success, and he celebrates our victories with as much joy as if they were his own. Having him on board is an asset to the team.”
