Eugénie Duval has announced that she will retire from professional cycling at the close of the 2025 season, bringing to an end a career that has spanned more than a decade at the top level. The French rider has been a cornerstone of FDJ-Suez throughout her time in the peloton, embodying the team’s growth from semi-professional beginnings into one of the sport’s established WorldTour outfits.
Aside from a brief stagiaire spell with Lointek in 2013, Duval has worn FDJ colours for her entire career. Though never a prolific winner, she has been defined by her consistency, loyalty and tireless work ethic. Her ability to sacrifice personal results for the benefit of her teammates has made her a trusted presence in countless races.
Highlights of her career include 4th at Paris-Roubaix Femmes in 2023, an outstanding ride that underlined her strength on the cobbles. She also placed 4th overall at the Trophée d’Or Féminin in 2016 and secured 6th at Omloop van het Hageland in 2019, alongside a host of solid results that reflected her reliability across different terrains.
Team manager Stephen Delcourt paid tribute, noting that Duval “embodies a whole chapter of our team’s history. She never sought the spotlight, but she knew how to lift others, to build the team step by step, shining and helping others shine.”
Discreet but dependable, Duval’s career will be remembered less for victories than for the foundations she helped lay for others. As she steps away at the end of 2025, FDJ-Suez loses not just a rider, but one of the quiet architects of its progress over the last decade.
