Mijntje Geurts to join Cofidis for 2026

Mijntje Geurts will not ride for Visma | Lease a Bike next season, having signed a two-year deal with Cofidis. The 21-year-old Dutch rider joins the French team as part of their ambition to strengthen across both classics and stage races.

New chapter at Cofidis

“With her 21 years, Mijntje Geurts is part of the new generation of riders who aspire to shine at the highest world level. She will be a valuable support in both the classics and stage races,” Cofidis announced enthusiastically.

After two seasons with Lotto Soudal, Geurts joined Visma | Lease a Bike for 2024. She soon showed her ability in hilly one-day races, finishing an impressive tenth on the Mur de Huy at La Flèche Wallonne Féminine. She also gained recognition at the Tour de l’Avenir, where she secured twelfth overall in the 2024 edition.

Atypical qualities

“Cofidis is a very good team with a long history. I think it’s a great plan to perform in both the classics and tough stage races. It’s still a bit early to name my specific goals, but I want to give everything for the team and I hope I’ll get the chance to try for my own result when the circumstances allow,” Geurts said of her move.

Cofidis sports director Mélanie Briot has long admired her potential. “She is a rider who recently caught our attention. We followed her closely. Her tenth place at La Flèche Wallonne and other results speak volumes about her qualities. She is a very explosive rider, which is quite atypical, and with that she is a real asset for our team.”

Results and development

In 2025, Geurts impressed with fifth in the Tour de l’Avenir prologue and ninth on stage 6, alongside her tenth place at La Flèche Wallonne Féminine. Those performances added to her growing reputation as a punchy rider suited to challenging terrain.

With Cofidis, she will look to continue that upward trajectory, aiming to develop further in both classics and stage races while supporting the ambitions of her new teammates.
