The Porec Trophy Ladies, now in its third edition, is beginning to find its feet as a solid early-season option for smaller teams looking to build form before the Spring Classics. Held in the coastal town of Porec, Croatia, the race is part of the Istrian Spring Trophies series and has run as a UCI 1.2 one-day race since its inception in 2023. The 2025 edition is set for 9th March, covering the now-familiar 107.9 km route starting and finishing in Tar.
A proving ground for developing talent
Although not a high-profile race, the Porec Trophy Ladies has already helped some riders make the next step in their careers. The inaugural winner, Yanina Kuskova, has since moved up to ProTeam level with Laboral Kutxa, while runner-up Lara Gillespie is now racing in the Women’s WorldTour for UAE Team ADQ. Gillespie has continued her strong form, finishing second at Omloop van het Hageland in 2025.
In 2024, Petra Zsanko claimed victory after nearly three hours of racing. The peloton split early, with a lead group forming towards the end. Racing for RC ARBร Rapso Knittelfeld at the time, Zsanko crossed the finish line in Tar ahead of Elisabeth Ebras of the UAE Development Team and Urลกka Pintar, who was riding for BTC City Ljubljana Zhiraf Ambedo. Zsanko has since stepped up to the ProTeam level, joining Ceratizit Pro Cycling for 2025.

While it remains a 1.2-level race, the Porec Trophy Ladies is providing a valuable early-season racing opportunity for smaller teams and younger riders looking to make an impression. With past winners moving up the ranks, it continues to act as a useful stepping stone in the early-season calendar. The recent winner of the Umag Trophy, Lara Crestanello, will be hoping to go 2 from 2 this year.
