AG Driedaagse Brugge – De Panne: fifth place for Sofia Bertizzolo

As predicted, the wind left its mark on the race of the AG Driedaagse Brugge – De Panne on Tuesday afternoon. CCC-Liv was always attentive and ended up in the final with Jeanne Korevaar, Riejanne Markus and Sofia Bertizzolo.

Our Italian rider sprinted to a well-deserved fifth place. “As a team, we can look back at a very good race. We were always attentive and focused, which was necessary with so much deceptive wind. We took the initiative wherever possible. During the crosswinds in the final, we might have been a bit less sharp and our riders had to pursue. Fortunately, Jeanne Korevaar, Riejanne Markus and Sofia Bertizzolo re-joined the group that competed for the victory at 8 kilometres before the finish”, says sports director Jeroen Blijlevens.

“We agreed that we would ride in Koksijde to anticipate a sprint with Sofia Bertizzolo. We tried, but soon found out that the preparatory work had cost us too much energy. A shame, really, because we were well in the race today. With a bit more luck, we would have been in the final with four riders.

Valerie Demey was strong today, but had a puncture at a crucial moment at 20 kilometres from the finish.” The AG Driedaagse Brugge – De Panne was the last road race of the season for CCC-Liv in 2020.
