Björnsdóttir has been one of Iceland’s most prominent women’s road cyclists across the national championship scene, with repeated success in both the road race and time-trial. She won the Icelandic road race title in 2018, 2019 and 2020, and also took the national time-trial title in 2020. Her international profile included representing Iceland at major events, including the elite women’s time-trial at the 2021 UCI Road World Championships.
