Alicia González resiste en una infernal 4ª etapa

Simac Ladies Tour (Stage 4)

Movistar Team, in the frame after yesterday’s crash – Guarischi did not start due to a blow to the wrist; Norsgaard and Erić abandoned too – defended their flag with the Asturian on a very technical day, with rain and mud.

Really demanding days that the Movistar Team is experiencing in the Simac Ladies Tour 2021 (UCI Women’s WorldTour), a race in which they will start tomorrow Sunday in the winding last stage in Arnhem (Netherlands) with only two cyclists, today was a brutal fourth stage in Sweikhuizen.

The three affected by yesterday’s crash – Barbara Guarischi, Emma Norsgaard and Jelena Erić – who went through the hospital and received the green light to compete despite their multiple blows, could not continue in the race. The Italian did not start due to the strong pain in her wrist; the Danish woman could barely cover two kilometres, with her blows to the chest and ribs; and the Serbian champion, suffering from low back pain, put her foot down mid-149 km today.

Only the two Spanish women from the telephone group remained in competition, Gloria Rodríguez who was knocked off 50 km from the end by a fall along with Uttrup Ludwig (FDJ) and Alicia González who fought until the last two laps with the best. Vos (TJV) took the stage victory and Van den Broek-Blaak (SDW) is the new leader.
