The Amstel Gold Race was always going to be a hard race with all the best riders of the world lining up. Julia, Roos, Catalina, llse and Amelia defended the NXTG colours. There were attacks straight from the start and Amelia joined that first group. They had a maximum lead of two minutes on the peloton. After the attacks of Anna van der Breggen and Annemiek van Vleuten they were caught but Amelia fought hard on every clmb to stay with the group. She finished the race in 40th place.
I am really happy with my race today. It was special to be at the start line of this race because it’s on my training roads. Because I live on the Watersley Sports and Talentpark it feels like my new home race. I am proud I was in that first group and still be part of the race in the final of such a hard day.
