Career overview

Kiesenhofer produced one of cycling’s great modern shocks by winning the Tokyo 2020 Olympic road race, attacking early and riding solo through the final 41km to take gold for Austria. Before that, she had already shown her climbing strength by winning a stage of the 2016 Tour Cycliste Féminin International de l’Ardèche and finishing 2nd overall. She later added Austrian national road race and time-trial titles, and raced with Team Cookina Graz, Soltec and Roland. Kiesenhofer has continued as an independent professional cyclist and coach, with a profile built around self-directed preparation, time-trial strength and one of the most remarkable Olympic victories in road cycling history.
