Anna van der Breggen wins Fleche Wallonne for sixth time in a row

Anna van der Breggen wrote history today by winning Fleche Wallonne for the sixth time in a row. On the Mur de Huy she finished off the strong collective ride of the Boels Dolmans Team. Van der Breggen lead the climb from start to finish.

In the final hundred meters she warded off attacks by Demi Vollering and Cecilie Ludwig. To the question if she isn’t tired of winning she swiftly replied, “No, not at all, especially when the team rides so strong. Christine guided me to the front of the pack when the final started. Chantal and Amy were already in the first group when we climbed the Mur de Huy for the first time. On the climb before the Mur the team drove so hard no attacks were possible. This enabled me to focus really on the final climb. So after all their hard work I really felt the pressure to win and thank god I did.”
