Another podium spot for Rachele Barbieri

With four riders Liv Racing Xstra still played a dominant role in Veenendaal-Veenendaal. Rachele Barbieri was the fastest of the bunch again but had to be satisfied with third place.

The second edition of Veenendaal-Veenendaal went over 139,9 kilometres. The race was animated by a breakaway of two riders, who took an advantage of almost three minutes. Liv Racing Xstra took command in the peloton to close the gap. The purple train managed to bring the gap down to 40 seconds at 10 kilometres from the finish line. However, without help from the other teams, the escapees managed to stay away until the finish.

In the sprint of the peloton, Rachele Barbieri was the strongest, which brought her another podium spot. After the race, the Italian Liv Racing Xstra rider was still satisfied with her result. “We did what we could during the race. We were with four riders only and got no help from other teams in the chase, so it was hard to bring the escapees back. Still, the team was very strong today. I felt good during the whole race and did a good sprint. I was positioned in the wheel of Marianne Vos and could launch my sprint from far to take third place. It was nice to be on the podium once again.”
