Another sprint, another top-10 for Rachele Barbieri

The fifth stage in the Giro Donne ended in another bunch sprint. Liv Racing Xstra tried to launch Rachele Barbieri for the sprint.

The Italian sprinter of Liv Racing Xstra finished sixth in stage 2 and fourth in stage 3. Today Barbieri was again in the mix for the podium. This time she had to be satisfied with a seventh place. “Of course I was aiming for more today. Due to the chaos in the final kilometres we lost each other and without a proper lead-out I couldn’t do better then I did. I was feeling well today, so I am a little disappointed as I think we could be on the stage podium.”

Our Czech champion Tereza Neumanova was involved in a crash in the final, but fortunately she could get back on the bike and finish the stage. “Of course it is never nice to crash, but I am fine and will start tomorrow”, Neumanova commented after the stage.
