Another top 10 for Shari

Shari Bossuyt from CANYON//SRAM Racing had another top day out at Danilith Nokere Koerse to sprint to 10th place.

After several crashes forced teammates Alice Barnes, Neve Bradbury and Maud Oudeman to abandon the race, Shari was left with just two teammates: Lisa Klein and Ella Harris. After one solo breakaway in the early part of the race, the peloton constantly split and came back together for the next 80km. A final breakaway duo was reeled in with less than 10km remaining.

“I was able to avoid the crashes,” says Shari.

“We had to keep a good position at the front of the race because the radio communication to the race car was so far out of range that we weren’t sure if our teammates were still in or out of the race. We raced attentively and for most of the final kilometres Ella and I could keep good position,” explains Shari.

“I lost a lot of place in the last kilometre because all of the teams came in. That meant I started my sprint from too far back but fortunately, I was able to overtake a lot of riders in the last metres before the finish line. We had an unlucky day as a team but I hope everyone that crashed can recover soon.”

*Maud, Neve and Alice continued to ride after their crashes to the team parking area and are being further assessed by the medical team.
