Jenno Berckmoes has confirmed his commitment to Lotto, signing a new contract that will keep him in the team’s colours until 2027. The 23-year-old Belgian, who enjoyed a series of impressive results this year, shared his satisfaction soon after penning the deal.
Berckmoes’s 2024 season featured several top finishes, including 1st at the Muur Classic Geraardsbergen on 28th August and 1st at the Oostvlaamse Sluitingsprijs the following day. His performances also included 1st in the 5th stage of Coppi e Bartali, plus fourth places at both the Druivenkoers Overijse and Circuit Franco-Belge. He regularly featured near the top of youth classifications in shorter stage races too.
New contract announcement
Speaking on 27th December, Berckmoes said: “I didn’t hesitate long to extend my contract. It may sound like a cliché, but I feel at home with this team. Since joining Lotto last season, my teammates, the staff and everyone in the organisation have become like family to me. Moreover, I’m convinced that in terms of performance and support, we are among the best in the peloton. The fact that I could add two extra years to my contract allows me to continue my growth calmly. I’m ready for the next step.”
Stéphane Heulot, the team’s CEO, highlighted Berckmoes’s versatile quality and hinted that there is more to come: “Jenno Berckmoes proved this past season that he has immense potential. It was therefore a logical decision for us to offer him a new contract. Jenno is a rider who can hold his own in both Flemish and Ardennes classics, as well as deliver strong results in shorter stage races. We are very pleased to keep him on board.”
