Bretagne Ladies Tour confirms first stage details

Vittoria Guazzini

The 2023 Bretagne Ladies Tour will start on Tuesday May 9th 2023 in North Finistère and go in a loop from Kerlouan to Kerlouan. Situated at the top of Brittany by the sea, there’s always the chance for some windy riding with possible echelons near the coast. The race will last for 5 stages and the final 4 stages will have details released at a later stage. All that is known is that the final stage will be in the Morbihan region, based in the south of Brittany with Vannes as its capital.

The Bretagne Ladies Tour is just one part of the cycling calendar in Brittany. La Classique Morbihan will take place on May 5th 2023 and the Grand Prix du Morbihan on May 6th 2023, just ahead of the Tour. Cypriot Antri Christoforou won La Classique and Kiwi Ally Wollaston won the GP de Plumelec-Morbihan ahead of the FDJ pair Guazzini and Brown.

The 2023 Bretagne Ladies Tour will be placed at the 2.1 level once again, ensuring that it will have a high-quality field. The number of teams will be increased to 20, allowing for a peloton of 120 riders which will increase the competition during the racing.

The 2022 Bretagne Ladies Tour was won by FDJ Nouvelle Aquitaine Futuroscope rider Vittoria Guazzini. She didn’t win a stage but her consistency throughout the 5 stages saw the Italian finish 25 seconds ahead of Cédrine Kerbaol of Cofidis.
