DNA Pro Cycling, the top-ranked UCI Continental women’s team in the Americas last year, will stop operations at the end of the 2024 season. Team co-owners Catherine Fegan-Kim and Alex Kim, who have run the team with Lee Whaley, shared the news today.

Catherine Fegan-Kim said, “I am immensely proud of what we have accomplished over the last 12 years. We have always strived to give riders the best support and opportunities to achieve their goals and grow as bike racers. This team has far exceeded our original goals and expectations.”

More than 70 riders have been part of the team, competing in races at home and abroad. Recent champions include Colombian national road and time trial champion Diana Peñuela, Mexican national time trial champion Anet Barrera, and Canadian national road and criterium champion Maggie Coles-Lyster.

DNA Pro Cycling has succeeded in many areas. In the U.S. criterium scene, the team won the overall title and placed four riders in the top 10 of the Speed Week series, with Kaitlyn Rauwerda winning the individual title. At USA Crits, Harriet Owen won the lap leader competition and finished second in the individual standings. The team has also done well in stage races and gravel events.

Current team members Sarah Van Dam and Olivia Cummins will represent their countries on the track at the Paris Olympic Games. Cummins told Cyclingnews, “DNA has become like a second home to me over the last two years. Without the constant support from the staff and riders on the team, I wouldn’t have become the person and the athlete I am today. They provided me the space I needed to chase my Olympic dream, despite it taking me away from some important road races with the team.”

Van Dam shared her thoughts too, saying, “Riding for DNA Pro Cycling Team has been an incredible experience both professionally and personally. I am particularly grateful for the support DNA Pro Cycling provided in pursuing both my road and track goals. The team’s dedication to our success was evident in their tireless efforts to ensure we had the resources and support we needed.”

The team has helped many riders develop, including British national time trial champion Claire Rose and U.S. national champions Olivia Cummins, Heidi Franz, and Shayna Powless. DNA Pro Cycling also supported its riders financially during the COVID pandemic, extending all contracts for the following season. Even though the team is closing, the owners will still support women’s cycling and help riders find new teams for 2025.

The team will keep racing through the end of 2024 in the American Criterium Cup and international road races, including the Vuelta a Colombia Femenina and the Tour Cycliste Féminin International de l’Ardèche.
