Career overview
Pitel had an unusually long and varied elite career across cycling, duathlon and endurance sport. She was world duathlon champion before becoming a major force on the road, particularly in time-trials and hilly stage races. Her cycling results included the French national time-trial titles in 2004 and 2005, French road race titles in 2007 and 2016, and three victories at Chrono des Nations. She also won the Tour de Bretagne Féminin in 2003 and the Tour Féminin en Limousin in 2005, finished 2nd overall at the Grande Boucle Féminine Internationale, and remained internationally competitive into her fifties with Cogeas-Mettler Pro Cycling Team.
