Kim Cadzow of New Zealand secured victory in the 3rd Trofeo Ponente in Rosa, marking a triumphant conclusion for the EF Education – Cannondale team. Following Kim Cadzow’s win in Pietra Ligure and Faulkner’s victory in Diano Marina, Kristen Faulkner clinched the third stage, Marina degli Aregai – Diano Marina, with a solo effort covering 50 kilometres, starting from the slopes of Passo del Ginestro.
Faulkner’s commanding lead seemed poised to reshape the general classification, supported by her EF Education – Cannondale teammates, but a late surge from the chasing group narrowed the gap. Ultimately, Faulkner crossed the finish line with a 9-second lead over Ema Comte from Chambery Cyclisme and Ana Vitoria Magalhaes from Bepink Bongioanni.
In the overall standings, Kim Cadzow maintained her lead with a 36-second advantage over Faulkner and a 1-minute and 8-second lead over Clara Emond, completing the podium sweep for EF Education – Cannondale.
The EF Education – Cannondale team, under the direction of Carmen Small, showcased their dominance throughout the race, securing multiple jersey classifications. Lotta Henttala claimed the yellow jersey for intermediate sprints, while Kristen Faulkner earned the blue jersey for mountain classifications and the fuchsia jersey for points classifications.
Reflecting on her victory, Kim Cadzow expressed gratitude towards her team and highlighted the significance of their collective effort. President of Loabikers, Piernicola Pesce, hailed the successful event, emphasising the collaboration between communities and organisations that elevated the race’s international profile.
Arguably, however, the race has existed in a vacuum with little to no updates during the race and no live coverage. Results have been slow and almost zero social media presence except for a couple of teams like EF, Canyon SRAM and Komugi.
