Eline Jansen signs long-term contract extension with VolkerWessels

Eline Jansen

Eline Jansen has committed her future to VolkerWessels, signing a new three-year contract that will see her remain with the Dutch team until the end of 2027. This comes on the heels of Scarlett Sourenโ€™s recent contract extension, marking a clear commitment by VolkerWessels to secure its top riders for the long term.

The 22-year-old Jansen, who transitioned fully from long-track speed skating to cycling in 2024, has had a rapid ascent in the sport, recording impressive results in her debut season. This year, she clinched the young riderโ€™s jersey in the Womenโ€™s Tour of Britain and took a stage win in the Tour de lโ€™Ardรจche, performances that have underscored her potential on the professional scene. She also earned high finishes in other notable events, including the Tour de lโ€™Avenir and the Tour de la Semois, demonstrating her versatility and ability to handle challenging terrain.

Reflecting on her swift progress and the decision to stay with VolkerWessels, Jansen expressed her excitement about the teamโ€™s supportive environment and her own growth potential. โ€œIโ€™m thrilled to stay with the team for three more years!โ€ Jansen said. โ€œIโ€™ve made a big step up last season, and I felt really at home with the team. Besides, the Dutch atmosphere and the fun we have in and around the races is something really special.โ€ She added, โ€œWith the ambitions from the team, I think we can both grow in the upcoming years, and thatโ€™s why I chose to stay and continue the journey. I never thought I could make such a big step already in my first year, so for me, it was an easy choice to stay with the team and develop further.โ€

Jansenโ€™s strong performance has not gone unnoticed within her team, with team manager Marnix Drysdale openly commending her efforts. โ€œEline is a talented rider who can handle the hills well. She works hard and showed this by, among other things, winning her first Pro Tour victory last year in the 6th stage of the Tour de lโ€™Ardรจche,โ€ Drysdale commented. Recognising her potential, he noted, โ€œWe believe that there is still a lot to improve, and are therefore happy that she, like Scarlett Souren, has decided to continue her promising development at VolkerWessels Cycling Team.โ€
