Emma Boogaard joins Team Coop – Hitec Products

eam Coop – Hitec Products are pleased to announce that it has strengthened itself with Emma Boogaard. The 20 years old rider from the Netherlands comes over from club team Restore Cycling and will join the team with immediate effect. On Wednesday Boogaard makes her debut for Team Coop – Hitec Products in the Scheldeprijs. “I am very happy with this opportunity and I am going to do all I can to make it a success.”

Boogaard, whose two years older sister Maaike is also an UCI-cyclist, raced on national level in 2020. This season, no races are organized yet in the Netherlands, except those on UCI-level. “I have been working hard to improve my level”, Boogaard says. “That we weren’t able to race was tough. I am very much looking forward to pin on a number again and do my first race with Team Coop – Hitec Products on Wednesday.”

Direct reinforcement
With the Dutch rider, Team Coop – Hitec Products adds an extra cyclist to the team during the season. “We have had some problems in the start of this season with some injuries and because of that some riders had to race more than we planned”, team manager Karl Lima says. “As we don’t want our young riders to have too much on their plate, we were looking for an extra rider. However, let me be very clear that we took Emma in because we believe in her talent and see her as a direct reinforcement for the team.”

Develop and get good results with the team
For Boogaard, the team won’t be completely new if it comes to the riders. “With a lot of the girls I already raced at the juniors and later also in the elite peloton. So, there are quite some familiar faces. I look forward racing with them. Team Coop – Hitec Products really gives young riders opportunities. That is what I always liked about the team. Now I get the chance myself. I want to develop myself this season and work on good results with the team.”
