Good hopes for national championships

This weekend it is time for the national road race championships in a lot of countries. It means most of the Team Coop – Hitec Products riders are racing as well. That actually already started on Thursday, when Anne Dorthe Ysland and Ann Helen Olsen started in the Norwegian time trial championships. It resulted in a 5th place for Anne Dorthe. This weekend our riders race in Norway, Germany and Sweden.

Ann Helen Olsen got a 13th place in the individual time trial on Thursday, as she had to deal with bad luck in the last six kilometers of the 30 kilometers long time trial. For a first year elite rider, the 5th place of Anne Dorthe was a good, but she wasn’t that satisfied herself. “It wasn’t really what I hoped for”, Anne Dorthe says. “Even if the result is good for me being a first year elite rider.”

Thursday was just not a good day for Anne Dorthe, she explains: “My legs weren’t as fresh as I thought and I felt it already from the beginning that I had a bad day. Therefore I wasn’t able to fight for the podium, which was my goal for the time trial! However I’m happy to finish with a 5th place, I did my very best, but it wasn’t good enough. Luckily I have a lot of years in front of me, where I can develop and fight for the jersey.”

Road race on Sunday
On Sunday Anne Dorthe hopes to show herself already. With eight riders, Team Coop – Hitec Products will have a big team at the starting line of the road race championships in Norway. “I am really looking forward to the road race on Sunday, where I can show what I’m good for! I think it will be a hard race, but it will fit me well. My shape is good, so I’m ready to fight.”

Sweden and Germany
Caroline Andersson will start in the road race of the Swedish championships on Saturday. That same day, Germany organises their time trial, in which Mieke Kröger will be competing. A day later, on Sunday, she and Christa Riffel also start in the road race.
