Grace finished 2nd in Liège Bastogne Liège

Second place for Grace Brown in Liège Bastogne Liège

This Sunday was the last spring classic, the last race of the Ardennes triptych. On the program, no less than 7 climbs including the legendary La Redoute and Roche aux Faucons climbs. The team was once again very present at the front of the race, with an offensive strategy. Evita took part in the breakaway of the day, recovered, it is Grace who will escape at 22km. It was ultimately Annemiek Van Vleuten who set off alone to victory in Liège. Grace, present in the chasing group with Marta Cavalli and three other runners, won the sprint on the finish line, finishing second in the fifth edition of Liège Bastogne Liège Women! What a way to end the Ardennes classics campaign in style!

The Australian reflects on her day: “Today was quite difficult for me, I didn’t feel very fit. But in the end, I think we ran well as a team and we managed to position our strong elements well, especially with Evita in the breakaway. Then I attacked between the coast of La Redoute and La Roche aux Faucons. So I was able to be in the leading group and in the final we tried to working together to catch Annemiek Van Vleuten (MOV) but she was just too strong that day. Marta and I decided I was going to sprint and I was able to win the sprint, so I’m very happy about that!”
