Cycling fans across the UK will be treated to live, flag-to-flag coverage of every stage of the Lloyds Bank Tour of Britain Men this September, with ITV4 once again broadcasting the nation’s premier cycling event. The channel, which has been the home of Britain’s national tour for 12 years, will provide uninterrupted coverage of all six stages for the seventh consecutive year, starting with the opening stage in Kelso on Tuesday 3rd September.
ITV’s commentary team, featuring Ned Boulting and David Millar, will guide viewers through the action as the peloton winds its way from the Scottish Borders through to Suffolk over six days of intense racing. This year’s event is set to be particularly exciting, with cycling stars such as double Olympic gold medallist Remco Evenepoel, two-time world road race champion Julian Alaphilippe, and Olympic mountain biking sensation Tom Pidcock confirmed to be on the start line.
In addition to the live broadcasts, ITV4 will also air a one-hour highlights programme each evening, providing fans with a comprehensive roundup of the day’s events. Those who miss the live action can catch up on ITVX, where both the live coverage and highlights will be available on demand.
Speaking about the extensive coverage, Jonathan Day, Managing Director of British Cycling Events, expressed his enthusiasm for bringing the race to a wide audience. “Bringing the Lloyds Bank Tour of Britain Men to as many people as possible, whether at the roadside or at home on television, is of huge importance to us. We’re delighted to once again have full live free-to-air coverage of every stage, and with the riders announced so far, we know it will be one to remember, so fans can look forward to six exciting days of action.”
The race kicks off in Kelso on the 3rd of September and will continue through Tees Valley, South Yorkshire, the East Midlands, and West Northamptonshire, before concluding on the 8th of September with the final stage from Lowestoft to Felixstowe. International viewers won’t miss out either, as live coverage will be streamed free on the British Cycling YouTube channel, with no geo-restrictions in place.
