Leah Kirchmann (Retired)

Leah Kirchmann is a retired Canadian cyclist who spent more than a decade racing at the highest level of women’s professional cycling. A versatile all-rounder with a strong sprint and excellent time-trial ability, she was particularly effective in stage races, selective one-day events and technical finishes. Kirchmann won the Giro Rosa prologue in 2016, became a multiple Canadian national champion and represented Canada at two Olympic Games before retiring from professional cycling at the end of 2022.

Career overview

Kirchmann developed through the North American racing scene before becoming one of Canada’s most consistent international riders. She won the Canadian road race, time-trial and criterium titles in 2014 and joined Liv-Plantur for 2016, immediately taking the Giro Rosa prologue and finishing second overall at the Tour of Qatar. Kirchmann remained with the same organisation through its Team Sunweb and Team DSM identities, becoming a dependable stage racer and road captain while continuing to collect strong individual results. She represented Canada at the Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games and finished fourth in the road race at Rio.
