Lija Laizane (Retired)
Lija Laizāne is a retired Latvian cyclist who spent a decade racing professionally in the European peloton. A strong all-rounder with particular ability against the clock, she became one of Latvia’s most successful national-level riders of her generation. Laizāne won five consecutive Latvian road race titles and five national time-trial championships, while also representing her country repeatedly at World and European Championships before retiring after the 2023 season.

Career overview
Laizāne established herself as Latvia’s dominant female road rider during the middle of the 2010s. She won five consecutive national road race championships between 2015 and 2019 and collected five Latvian time-trial titles, beginning with her first in 2011. Internationally, she finished ninth at the 2014 Chrono des Nations and third in a time-trial stage of the Trophée d’Or Féminin, while regularly representing Latvia at major championships. Her professional career included lengthy spells with Aromitalia Vaiano and Spanish team Eneicat-RBH Global before she joined Laboral Kutxa-Fundación Euskadi for her final season in 2023. Laizāne retired from professional cycling after that campaign.
