Today’s opening stage of the 2024 Setmana Ciclista Valenciana is a near carbon copy of the final stage from the 2023 race which saw Justine Ghekiere win the GC by 1 second. The late climbs are a great launch point for someone to try and deliver a surprise stage win but with this stage being the opener rather than closer it might not be raced in quite the same fashion. The GC riders will be looking ahead to Stage 3 and potentially keep their powder dry, aiming to not lose time rather than gain it. The opportunity will be there though for someone who does want to roll the dice!
