Welcome to live coverage of the 2025 edition of Scheldeprijs Women, a race that’s become synonymous with flat-out sprint finishes and high-speed chaos in the closing kilometres. Since its debut in 2021, this 1.1-level event has been dominated entirely by Lorena Wiebes, who has claimed all four editions to date. But with Wiebes’ absence from the start list this year, the dynamic shifts – and we’re set for the most open edition yet.
Scheldeprijs Women has earned its reputation as a benchmark race for pure sprinters, much like its older brother in the men’s calendar. There are no climbs, no decisive crosswinds expected, and very little terrain to split things up—meaning it’s all about positioning, lead-outs, and timing.
With the weather forecast looking calm and sunny, it’s unlikely we’ll see the peloton break apart early on. Instead, all eyes will be on the final laps in Schoten, where sprint trains will begin their battle for supremacy. Who can step up in Wiebes’ absence and claim the crown of the fastest finisher on one of the most straightforward sprint stages of the spring?
