Live: 2025 Women’s Clasica de Almeria

Clasica de Almeria 2024

The 3rd edition of the Women’s Clasica de Almeria will once again feature a pyramid-shaped profile. There aren’t too many tests early on and late on but right in the middle of today’s one-day race is a serious climb that shakes up the race. In previous years, only a very small group had been able to contest the win before a sprint to decide the winner. The startlist has an improved quality though this year so that has the opportunity to change things. FDJ-Suez will look to marshall the race for their hot favourite Ally Wollaston who will be more than happy to keep the peloton together. With around 40km to race after the summit of the climb, a well-organised team can close up the gap and frustrate any attackers who have gone clear.

Previous years have seen only the likes of Human Powered Health from the Women’s WorldTour contesting for the win with Laboral Kutxa and Eneicat trying to make up the gap. Cynisca Cycling though, are the winners of the two previous editions, thanks to Emilie Fortin in 2023 and Lauren Stephens in 2024. The American team are back again this year but should find their task even harder with 5 Women’s WorldTour teams here, the most ever for the 1.1 level race.
