Magnus Sheffield will leave Netcompany INEOS at the end of the 2026 season and join Uno-X Mobility for 2027, giving the Norwegian WorldTour team one of the most versatile young riders on the market.

The 24-year-old American has spent the past five seasons in the INEOS set-up, developing into a rider capable of winning one-day races, performing in time trials and challenging in shorter stage races. His move to Uno-X also carries a strong personal link, with Sheffield’s Norwegian family background making him a particularly natural fit for a team built around Scandinavian identity.

Sheffield leaves INEOS after five seasons

Sheffield joined INEOS ahead of the 2022 season and made an immediate impact by winning Brabantse Pijl in his first year with the team. He also took stage victories at the Vuelta a Andalucía and Tour of Denmark, where he finished second overall.

His biggest WorldTour victory came at Paris-Nice in 2025, when he attacked on the final stage around Nice and held off the chase to take a solo win. He went on to finish fourth overall, reinforcing the idea that his best role does not fit neatly into one category.

Sheffield’s 2026 season has been steadier rather than spectacular. He finished sixth overall at the Volta a la Comunitat Valenciana and ninth at Tirreno-Adriatico, while a fifth place in the final Tour de Pologne time trial again showed the strength that has made him valuable across several types of race.

Norwegian connection makes Sheffield an unusual Uno-X signing

Uno-X have built their men’s project around Norwegian and Danish riders, a policy that has helped give the team a distinct identity as it has developed from Continental level into the WorldTour. Sheffield is an unusual addition to that model because he races for the United States but also has strong Norwegian family ties.

That connection means the signing fits more naturally than his nationality alone might suggest. It also gives Uno-X a rider with considerable WorldTour experience at only 24, after five years in one of the peloton’s biggest teams.

Uno-X add another rider with leadership potential

Sheffield joins a men’s squad that is continuing to strengthen after securing its place in the WorldTour for the 2026-2028 licence cycle. The team has already confirmed several 2027 additions, including Casper Pedersen, Kristian Egholm and Felix Ørn-Kristoff.

For Sheffield, the move should bring more freedom to race for his own results. He has spent much of his INEOS career moving between support duties and opportunities of his own, but his victories and stage-race performances suggest there is still scope to build a more defined programme around him.

Uno-X gain a rider who can contribute immediately in the spring classics, week-long stage races and time trials, while still being young enough to develop further as the team establishes itself at WorldTour level.
