In Fiorenzuola D’Arda, Italy, Maike van der Duin made an excellent start to the European Track Cycling Championships for juniors and promises. On the scratch, the rider from Biehler Krush Pro Cycling finished in a handsome second place.

The scratch race on the Velodromo Attilio Pavesi was over 25 laps. The riders rolled down the course at an average of 42.8 kilometres per hour. A final sprint ultimately had to make the decision. The Italian Martina Fidanza showed herself the fastest in it.

Behind her Maike van der Duin rushed to the silver. A wonderful achievement for the first-year elite female of Biehler Krush Pro Cycling, one of the youngest riders at the start. Van der Duin also won European Championship silver last year at this spectacular track number. The bronze went to the Portuguese Maria Martins.

Van der Duin will also ride the points race and the madison at the European Track Cycling Championships for promises this weekend.
